Wii Will Make You Sore

14 01 2009

In real life, I don’t like play sports very much. Tag with my niece is about as active in sports as I get these days. I don’t do basketball, volley ball makes my wrists hurt just by thinking about it, softball makes me roll my eyes, and you can forget it if you think I’m going to play any game like  tennis that requires hand/eye/foot coordination.

Sometimes I’ll participate in a group activity of putt-putt golf, or the very rare game of bowling. Once in a while, I’ll even play a little catch or baseball. I’m not much of a sports person, you may have guessed.

For Christmas, my boyfriend surprised me with a Wii, which comes with a copy of “Wii Sports.” I wasn’t very interested at first. What would I do with a sports game anyway? Once Larry got the Wii hooked up, we sampled all the games he got me, including “Wii Sports.”

Who knew I took after my mother and her freakishly ability to pwn everyone around her at a bowling video game? (Granted, she used to be a real bowling fanatic, but that’s beside the point.)

Well, bowling won me over. I tried baseball (meh), boxing (yarg), golf (I’m getting better at it!), and tennis (omgwtfbbq!!!). I have fallen in love with tennis. Seriously, I have gotten up at 6:30 a.m. after Larry leaves for work so I can play a few games after my coffee kicks in. Usually, I play throughout the day, and many times I will play it before going to bed at night.

Unfortunately, I’m paying dearly for my new-found love. My right shoulder has ached for over a week now, from top to halfway down my side to just below my right shoulder blade. However, my current tennis skill rating is 400+, which granted can’t compete with my bowling score (985 +/- skill rating), but it’s pretty impressive considering I can’t smack a real tennis ball to save my life.

I have therefore concluded, my dear reader, that I should invest in “Wii Fit” in hopes of continuing my “get off your ass and do something” workout regime. All in due time, though. For now, my shoulder needs a break… and I need to learn how to play the Wii left handed.

Determined to Be Happy

5 01 2009

I haven’t felt much like blogging. Even my LJ updates have been rather mundane (besides the one about Akira, that one was my usual fare of ranting). Not much has been going on, honestly.

In happy news, I got a Wii for Christmas that I absolutely love. I’ve been playing lots and lots of Wii Music and Wii Sports, which are my two favorites. I like Wii Play, too, because the mini-games are super fun. Star Wars Lightsaber Duels is fun… but the Wii cord smacks me in the face a lot. So when we can get a wireless adaptor, I’ll play it some more. Right now, it just hurts.

My litte goats are doing well. Jack and Jasper are nearly as big as their mommy now, which kind of makes me sad. I miss when they were so little, lol. Maybe Zoe will have babies soon and I’ll have really little ones to play with. 🙂

Well, that’s all I can muster for an update. Hopefully, another happy update will come soon.
